Last Words

Although my physical frame has gone

I’m just outside the door

For memories are always there to keep

And all of ours are put into store

You can always recall me at any time

And remember those times that we shared

The memories I have taken with me

Is of all of those friends who cared

Please remember all those good times

The times that we laughed and cried

But please don’t dwell on the dark days

And just forget the day that I died

This life is here for the living

But it will always have an end

It’s the journey we take along the way

That decides who are really our friends

There were friends I made by the dozen

And I’m sure that lots are all here

The last few years was a challenge

But I tried to suppress all my fears

I received so much support by so many

And your kindness meant all it could be

Now please support my wife and the children

Because I know they are all missing me

Our love will stand the test of time

All those years we shared were so true

Our memories cannot be taken away

And mine are there safely with you

I thought of all our yesterdays

The good ones and the bad

I thought of all the love we shared

And all the fun that we had

So remember me with fondness

And forget the last few years

I finally lost my long battle

But please don’t shed any tears

Now make the best that life has to offer

So make your plans and please understand

If you want to enjoy the years left for you

Then your future is now in your hands

So when every day starts without me

Please don’t think that we’re far apart

Because every time that you think of me

I’ll be right there in your heart
