NEW COMFORT
Today you made me realise
How important words can be
Just to sit there on your telephone
When you share some words with me
The emptiness filled by your voice
Is a comfort on its own
A change from all those normal days
When I just sit here on my own
It’s the simple thing of talking
That adds so much to my day
So to have the company of others
Is also a willing price to pay
Each day teaches me so much
About those who are out there on their own
How can they change the life they now live
While also ignoring those people who moan
Perhaps it will start with just one word
A message that is kind and true
A moment shared by two close friends
That will shift their darkest view
For in those gentle special acts
That very often go unseen
Lie lots of hope for us both
With those quiet times between
So I will always hold these moments close
I will treasure them all when shown
Because while waiting for your simple calls
I will now never need to feel alone.
